Last night I was laying in bed reading the news…seeing all of the negativity I decided to take a much needed break. So, I got on TikTok (don’t judge – this is a safe place). I was so pleasantly surprised. I was greeted with video after video of police officers holding hands with protesters, protesters thanking and protecting officers on the streets, and protesters walking in the streets singing, “Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness, My God, that is who you are” I was beyond moved, I had tears steady streaming down my face. I was amazed. It was a bright light among all of the darkness I’ve seen over the past week.
We’re watching our country tear itself apart. It is RAW; It is HEARTBREAKING; It is PAINFUL. I don’t want to say anything controversial, we have enough of that right now. So, here are some things that I think we can all agree on.
God cares about how we treat one another.
•Matthew 7:12 “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you…”
We were created in HIS image.
•Genesis 1:27 “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them…”
Red, yellow, black, or white – we’re all precious and loved in his eyes.
•1 John 15:12 “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”
We are one body united by Him.
•1 Corinthians 12:13 “For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body…”
Lord, watch over our country. Fill our hearts with love. Make us better. Restore our humanity. Fill us with grace. Unify us. Forgive us.
Ephesians 2:14-18 “For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
